LOW VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

A circuit breaker is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to detect a fault condition and, by interrupting continuity, to immediately discontinue electrical flow. Unlike a fuse, which operates once and then has to be replaced, a circuit breaker can be reset (either manually or automatically) to resume normal operation. Circuit breakers are made in varying sizes, from small devices that protect an individual household appliance up to large switchgear designed to protect high voltage circuits feeding an entire city.continue..

We all want to have a reliable data center, and one key to data center uptime is circuit breaker reliability. As such, a detailed evaluation of the circuit breaker design and functionality at the design stage of the data center is extremely important. This white paper from Schneider Electric is designed to help engineers and managers of data center power systems understand the basics of circuit breaker design and maintenance in order to ensure the highest levels of reliability.continue..

Low circuit breaker normally operating at 600 volt AC and below. The common used types of  circuit breaker around the world such as molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) and Air circuit breaker ( ACB ).
This low voltage circuit breaker usually used for power distribution and sub power distribution at factory and general industry. It a combination with electrical and mechanical device to protect our electrical system from overload and over current matters..continue..

The deterioration of low voltage circuit breaker is normal and  this process begins as soon as the circuit breaker is installed. If  deterioration is not checked, it can cause failures and malfunctions. The purpose of an electrical preventive maintenance and testing program should be to recognize these factors and provide means for correcting them.
A good organized maintenance program can minimize accidents, reduce unplanned shutdowns and lenghten the mean time between failures of electrical equipment..continue..

The electric arc is no invention, but appeared to the first physicist who tried to break a circuit through which a current flowed. Circuits, always inductive, supply electrons with sufficient energy to cross the distance in the conductor separation zone. The gas present, normally air, is ionised by these "pioneer" electrons and the resulting plasma will then facilitate current flow..continue..

This is actually non-sense. Open at your own risk..continue..
The selection of any circuit breaker, for any given duty, is ultimately based on an assessment of its ability to perform the following basic functions:
a) To carry the required full-load current without overheating (i.e., it should have the correct current rating)
b) To switch and isolate or disconnect the load from the source at the given system voltage (i.e., it should have the correct voltage rating),
c) To interrupt any possible abnormally high operating current or short-circuit current likely to be encountered during operation (i.e., it should have the correct interrupting rating).continue..

POWER SYSTEMS LOSS.COM: LOSSES IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

What is powersystemsloss all about?    System's loss reduction is now one of the most growing trends in every electric distribution utility. Primarily triggered by economics and regulation concerns, Transmission and Distribution companies now sets more focus in reducing losses and become as an efficient utility as possible in delivering power. Information found in this site will be very useful not only to electrical practitioners but it is also our goal to help students better understand the actual world. Thank you and lets all enjoy learning! continue..   Back to basic    n case you don't know, the power we get from our household electrical outlet didn't just appear in the thin air. It may appear that it is coming out from our walls but we all know that looks can be deceiving. Before reaching our respective homes, electric current passes through miles and miles of c...

FRUITS AS BATTERY AND SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY

Electric Fruits Project   The purpose of this project was to find out which fruit would generate enough electricity to light a light bulb and to discover which fruit would light the bulb the longest. To conduct my experiments I used a Multimeter, copper and zinc wires & electrodes, alligator clips with leads, various light bulbs and five types of fruits. continue.. Why Do Citrus Fruits Produce Electricity?   In order to generate electricity, there must be a power source and a complete circuit. When using a citrus fruit to create electricity, these rules still apply. In a simple experiment using a citrus fruit, the components of the circuit include: a lemon or other fruit, wire, two different metal elements and a small light bulb. The lemon in this circuit serves as the battery and power source. continue.. Fruit Power Project   Purpose To demonstrate how an electrical current can be generated using citrus fruits (such as lemons or li...

ELECTROCUTION: ELECTRIC ACCIDENT THAT CAN BE AVOIDIED

Electrocution   Electrocution is a type of electric shock that, as determined by a stopped heart, can end life. Electrocution is frequently used to refer to any electric shock received but is technically incorrect; the choice of definition varies from dictionary to dictionary. However, in the vernacular, the term electrocution is used to mean: death, murder or a sudden accident caused by an electric shock. deliberate execution by means of an electric shock, such as an electric chair; the word "electrocution" is a portmanteau for "electrical execution".. continue.. Electric Shock   Electric Shock of a (human) body with any source of electricity that causes a sufficient current through the skin, muscles or hair. Typically, the expression is used to denote an unwanted exposure to electricity, hence the effects are considered undesirable. The minimum current a human can feel depends on the current type (AC or DC) and frequency. A person can feel at least 1 mA (rm...
