An LED lamp (LED light bulb) is a solid-state lamp that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the source of light. The LEDs involved may be conventional semiconductor light-emitting diodes, organic LEDs (OLED), or polymer light-emitting diodes (PLED) devices, although PLED technologies are not currently commercially available.
Since the light output of individual light-emitting diodes is small compared to incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps, multiple diodes are often used together. In recent years, as diode technology has improved, high power light-emitting diodes with higher lumen output are making it possible to replace other lamps with LED lamps. One high power LED chip used in some commercial LED lights can emit 7,527 lumens while using only 100 watts. LED lamps can be made interchangeable with other types of lamps...continue..

Manufacturers have expanded the application of LEDs by "clustering" the small bulbs. The first clustered bulbs were used for battery powered items such as flashlights and headlamps. Today, LED bulbs are made using as many as 180 bulbs per cluster, and encased in diffuser lenses which spread the light in wider beams. Now available with standard bases which fit common household light fixtures, LEDs are the next generation in home lighting. .continue..
LED lighting and fluorescent lighting are just two of the types of lighting technologies available. Both have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages. One key area that they differ in is the area of energy consumption and lifespan. Comparing LED lighting and fluorescent lighting requires taking a look at a few key specifications..continue..
There are numerous reasons why an individual should consider converting his fluorescent lights to LED lights. It is widely known that fluorescent lights contain mercury and do not last very long. LED lights are environmentally friendly because they do not contain mercury, last longer, conserve energy and emit less heat. The process of converting fluorescent to LED lights is relatively straight forward, but you must have a conversion kit or a drop-in tube in order to successfully complete the task.continue..
Our LED Fluorescent and Floodlights, down lights & lamps offer clean, cool white light, suitable for any application with the same light output (LUX). Our aim is to lower all light energy consumption by at least 60% - 80%, thus reducing energy costs and the businesses carbon footprint impact. By using the latest LED design & technology, we can achieve energy efficient lighting solutions for almost any application.continue..
In this instructable, I will try and outline all of the steps required to create an LED fluorescent replacement tube. This instructable is provided more as a guideline, you can change almost anything in here to suit your needs. The lamp I created contained 87 LEDs, and this guide provides instructions for that many. This instructable contains the information on how to build a lamp, but there is too much information about how it works to include here.continue..
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source.[1] LEDs are used as indicator lamps in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. Introduced as a practical electronic component in 1962,[2] early LEDs emitted low-intensity red light, but modern versions are available across the visible, ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths, with very high brightness.continue..
